E(n)chor Chingri - Green Jackfruit with Prawn

The most favorite dish of hubby dearest.. I cook it sometimes the satwik way ( niramish enchor er dalna) or use onion, garlic and ginger and throw some prawns at the end to make e(n)chor chingri kaliya ( Green Jackfruit with prawns).

Ingredients

  • Green Jackfruit - 1, cut into bite sized pieces
  • Potato - 2, cubed
  • Prawns - 15, washed and cleaned
  • Onion Paste - 2 tbsp
  • Ginger paste - 1 tbsp
  • Garlic Paste - 1 tsp
  • Coriander Powder - 1tsp
  • Tomato - 1, Chopped
  • Jeera - 1 tsp
  • Bayleaves - 1
  • Kashmiri Chilli Powder - 1 tsp
  • Green chillies - 3, chopped
  • Salt, Turmeric - as required
  • Sugar - 1 tsp

Fry the potato cubes till golden brown and keep aside.

Saute the prawns with salt and turmeric for 2 minutes and keep aside.

Add oil in the same kadai, now add the bayleaves and jeera. When it splutters, add the onion paste and fry well. Now add ginger garlic paste, chilli powder, coriander powder, salt and turmeric. Fry with some sprinkle of water till the masals are fried well. Add tomatoes and chopped green chillies and fry till tomatoes become mashy.

Now add the boiled e(n)chor and fried potatoes and stir well so that the vegetables are well coated with the masalas.

Add warm water and let it boil till the vegetables are almost soft. Now add the fried prawns and boil for 10 minites over low heat till the prawns are cooked.

Adjust the seasoning. Add one tsp of sugar and mix well. Sprinkle some garam masala powder and keep covered. Serve with plain rice.
